Two The Circus We Go

There’s something incredibly special about celebrating a child’s second birthday. It’s a milestone that deserves a touch of magic and a whole lot of fun. This year, we decided to bring the enchantment of the circus right into our home with a “Two the Circus We Go” themed party!

The Inspiration

The circus is a place of wonder, filled with dazzling colors, playful characters, and awe-inspiring acts. I wanted to capture that sense of joy and excitement to create an unforgettable experience for our little one and our guests under the big top!

The moment guests stepped through the door, they were transported into a pastel paradise. Soft pinks, teals, and purples dominated the décor, creating a soothing yet festive atmosphere.

Whimsical Carnival Outfits

Picture a vintage horse rider in glittering rhinestones, satin, and feathers elements that defined their show-stopping aesthetic. For a modern take, opt for a flowing dress with a nod to the flapper era, like the ethereal blue glittery gown. The soft tulle overlay sprinkled with stars adds a delicate shimmer reminiscent of vintage stage costumes. Pair it with a fluffy pink ostrich feather shawl to create a touch of glam, just like the ornate accessories worn by 1920’s circus performers. For the finishing touch, embrace the opulence by accessorizing with a feathered headpiece or adding glitter roots to soft, wavy hair, bringing a playful, whimsical feel to the look.”

For the little performers, I wanted their outfits to mirror mine. The pastel dresses, with their layers of multi-colored tulle, create a sense of movement and fun. These vintage-inspired looks are perfect for young guests, capturing the magic of 1920s circus costumes with their sparkle and playful silhouettes

Setting the Scene

The décor for this vintage circus-themed party truly brings the magic to life. The whimsical pastel backdrop sets the stage with soft pinks, blues, and greens draped gracefully, mimicking the tents of a classic circus. The shimmering streamers and flowing ribbons add a sense of movement and festivity, drawing the eye to the focal point an enchanting carousel horse prop with a golden base. The hand-painted horses were the true showstoppers, carefully crafted to look like they belonged on a vintage carousel!

Balloons in soft shades of cream, pink, and lavender float around the space, adding volume and a playful vibe, while the overall setup transports guests to a dreamy, magical world where circus performers and carousel horses come alive. The small details like the carefully chosen pastel hues and glitter accents create a cohesive and enchanting atmosphere, perfect for any celebration inspired by the whimsical charm of the vintage circus.

The Showstopper Cake

The centerpiece of our party was a stunning carousel-themed cake. Decorated with delicate piping and topped with carousel horses and a tent-like topper, it was almost too beautiful to cut into! The flavors were as delightful as the design, a vanilla confetti cake with vanilla buttercream icing toped in pastel sprinkles!

Whimsical Carnival Table Setting

The table setup was nothing short of magical! Sparkly iridescent tablecloths glimmered in the sunlight, setting the perfect stage for a fun, circus-inspired dining experience. Each guest was treated to whimsical carousel horse and circus tent shaped plates from Meri Meri, they matched the theme flawlessly adding a playful, vintage circus vibe. Wooden cutlery wrapped in gold and pink stripes offered an eco-friendly, yet stylish touch.

The festive tableware wasn’t just practical—it was a statement in itself. To keep the theme cohesive, colourful fringe cups were added, evoking the playful feel of circus tents and streamers. Glittery confetti placemat’s tied everything together, making each place setting a mini-celebration in itself.
