Halloween is one of those times of year when I love having a little fun with decorating. This year, I transformed our dining room into a playful Halloween party space, filled with witches, skeletons, paper chains, and plenty of little details to bring the room together.
Rather than decorating the entire house, I focused on the dining room and turned it into a festive space for entertaining. I wanted it to feel spooky enough for Halloween, but still playful and full of personality.
So, let’s have a little look around!”

Little Witches on the Chandelier
To add to the Halloween theme, I hung little witch drawings I made from the chandelier.
I drew the witches on my iPad, printed them out, and then cut them out by hand. Once they were ready, I glued them onto ribbon so I could hang them from the chandelier.
I love how such a simple idea turned into a fun little Halloween decoration! Because I drew them myself, I could create exactly the vintage witch look I wanted, and it was a lovely way to add something personal to the room.
With the paper chains surrounding it, the chandelier became part of the overall decoration rather than just another feature in the room.
These little details are what make seasonal decorating fun for me. You can add a few unexpected touches and create something that feels a little different from your everyday decor.

A Halloween Table Setting
The dining table was one of the main features of the room. For the place settings, I used two different styles of plates rather than trying to make everything match perfectly.
I also used napkins as placemats, which is a simple way to add another layer to the table without needing to buy traditional placemats. I love finding ways to use things I already have and giving them a slightly different purpose.
Mixing different plates and using napkins underneath them helped create a more relaxed eclectic look. For a Halloween party, I think there is plenty of room to have fun with your table setting rather than worrying about everything matching exactly.

DIY Paper Chains from the Ceiling
One of my favourite details in the dining room was the paper chains I made and hung from the ceiling down towards the chandelier.
Paper chains are such a simple, inexpensive decoration, but hanging them overhead makes a bigger impact than you might expect. They draw the eye upwards and help connect the chandelier to the rest of the Halloween decor.
I love decorating with handmade details, they add a fun classic look to the over all party decor.

Decorating the Window
I also decorated the window with a Halloween banner featuring witches and other spooky details. Just like the little witches on the chandelier, I drew the designs on my iPad, printed them out, and cut them out by hand. Instead of attaching them to ribbon, I glued them onto a banner to create my own Halloween window decoration.
Adding decorations to the window helped carry the Halloween theme beyond the dining table. When decorating a room for a party, I like to think about the whole space and how the different elements work together.
The table, chandelier, ceiling decorations, and window banner each add something different without needing to fill every surface with decorations.
Of course, no Halloween dining room would be complete without a few skeletons!
