The thing is, I was born brilliant. Born bad. And a little bit mad.
~ Cruella DeVil
Halloween is one of my favourite seasons because I can really express my creativity and have a lot of fun! I love Disney especially the princesses because any excuse to wear a pretty dress is right up my alley. But Cruella has always been on my list of costumes that I’ve been wanting to do for a long time! This year the timing was right because we have a little babe in the house and I wanted to make sure their costumes where warm enough so Dalmatians was perfect.
Growing up my sister loved 101 Dalmatians and we watched it many times. I still remember the first time we saw a real life Dalmatian it was so exciting. lol At first I thought it would be so cute to do Anita and Roger but after seeing Cruella I knew that was the plan for this Halloween! It was so much fun dressing up as a villain, plus you can really make them look glamorous and chic!
For the girls costumes I was hoping I could just buy a Dalmatian costume but I didn’t have any luck. Everything was very expensive and I left it to late with only a week before Halloween, because we are in a rule location everything takes longer for shipping. So I ended up Diying their outfits and they turned out so cute and only cost $45 for both. I will be make a tutorial in a separate post later on how to make your own.
When I think of Cruella I always think high fashion Icon. She is glamorous and chic a girl who loves all the luxuries life has to offer her. I get almost a Chanel vibe and if she wasn’t a fashion designer herself I feel she would be wearing a lot of Chanel. Who knows maybe that is her character’s inspiration.
For my Cruella outfit I knew it had to look chic but also have that villain vibe to it but I also wanted to make use of things I already owned in my closet, except the wig I purchased it on amazon. My mom gave me this beautiful jumpsuit from Joseph Ribkoff in the summer. Here is a similar one from amazon also Joseph Ribkoff. It was the perfect Cruella outfit the long flowing pant legs with separate chiffon layers over top was just that! I think the chiffon layers where perfect because they flowed so elegantly in the wind. Some vintage black leather gloves and an old curtain rod where just the last finishing touches this outfit needed!!
For Jasper’s outfit we kept it pretty simple as well and you can’t really go wrong with crating this look. All you need is a good coat and hat!
Kevin is wearing a simple blue sweater and black dress pants. My grey wool coat from oldnavy and a felt hat that my sister let us borrow.
We honestly have been wearing our costumes all week and having a blast. I can’t wait to take the girls out trick or treating for a fun night around town.
I hope everyone has a wonderful and safe Halloween!!
